Not worth it

"I agree with much of the other reviews…just not worth it and probably a better product is out there for less. Lots of wasted water, semi-clear ice, 1-2 molds are consistently pushed up creating oval molds instead of round. Disappointed overall especially given the cost."

a piece of worthless junk heading to a landfill

"Terrible. The clips don't hold at all and the top of the mold lifts up as it freezes leaving you with unslightly globs of ice. I made a second attempt, weighing the top down with heavy books in the freezer, same problem. Completely worthless."

Works ok and will make clear balls BUT

"Works ok and will make clear balls IF you do the following. First boil your filtered water twice let it cool to room temp before boiling second time (you would do this to make any kind of clear ice) . Second: I found if you fill the tray with about 4 cups (use a measuring cup not a cup you drink from) of your water after it cools down. Then slowly lower the ice mold into the tray letting the water fill the ball mold through the holes in the bottom. Place it in your freezer and put something that has some weight to it on top of the mold, this helps to keep the mold from pushing up out of the tray as the water freezes and expands. I know this sounds like a lot but it's actually not and it makes much better clear ice balls. The directions that come with it SUCK."

Hope they fit

"It’s a bit much to ask folks to pour the water into those tiny little holes. There must be a faster way to fill up this thing. Speaking of size things, I hope these huge spheres fit into my rock glasses, and if so, that they leave space for the drink itself! I just got the item today and haven’t had time to get it out of the freezer. And now it’s too late to make a drink. It may have been better to wait a few days to ask me what I thought of it—you probably would have gotten a totally different, and more valuable, review."

Nice idea but difficult to achieve desired result

"So far, I’ve found it impossible to get the mold to seal sufficiently thus the end result is a solid ice block in bottom container with partial ice balls stuck on top. Obviously operator error could be a root cause…"

Terrible, don’t waste your money….or your water

"Ridiculous design that wastes multiple volumes of water more than it takes to fill the spheres and then don’t even get a complete sphere of ice. There has to be a better way."

Poor Design

"I received the Sphere Clear Ice Tray as a gift for Christmas. I spent a great deal of time searching for an instructional video on how to fill the ice tray since I thought I was filling it incorrectly. The small piece of paper with directions is not very clear and there are no videos online. Seemed to take forever to fill the shperes and come to find out the plastic bottom half of the tray has holes in it as described in previous review(s). Not worth the time it takes to fill the spheres and the amount of wasted water. The design doesn't make sense to me."

Not impressed

"I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing several of these as a gift for my staff. I saw the Rabbit name and trusted they would be good. I'm quite disappointed with the product, enough to apologize to my staff for their gift... The mold seems impossible to seal. The drain hole in the bottom makes not sense. And, the resulting "sphere" looks more like the planet Saturn. Even if the mold did yield good results, the process to extract the ice takes way too long and is not intuitive at all. In general, this just seems like a poorly designed product that is expected to sell because of the brand."

A Lot of Work for Clear Ice

"If you're willing to do a ton of work, you'll get clear ice. There's nothing to hold the silicon cover down, so it'll float: - Your cubes will be oval with a big seam - If you push down on the cover, water goes everywhere (simple, really, but just a warning) You can prevent this by putting your college physics textbook on top of the whole thing. If you have all that freezer space. The thing is, a simple notch and pressure plate on the carrier would fix the whole issue for maybe 15 cents in manufacturing. So: - Use filtered and/or heavily-boiled (and cooled) water - Start with the insulated container at room temperature - Start the freezing process in a regular kitchen freezer. A deep-freezer works too fast - Put a big weight on top and you'll probably have 4 decently-clear ice cubes in a day."

Great for 3/4 filled ice spheres with spurs

"The Rabbit name made me inclined to assume this would be a quality product but I will be putting this into my next rummage sale and hoping to get $1 of the $24 of the original purchase price. The plastic lower tray and the silicone top do not seal adequately and as such all it does is leak. The holes are too small to accurately fill with water from a boiled water. Once “sealed” as the instructions say I placed it into the tray and began filling it. Let it suffice to say you’d have more luck pouring into the drain. If Rabbit intends for one to simply fill the entire tray and freeze it as a block then their mission to create ice spheres might be accomplished. I managed to generate for three-quarter filled spheres with spurs on the bottom end. Definitely a waste of money. This thing is a swing and a miss."
